Rare armchair by the famous Italian designer Gustavo Pulitzer in 1952 for the dining room of the Italian liner Augustus in mahogany. System of fixation in case of high sea under the basis (see photo of detail). Several available copies. Fabrics was changed. See and enlarge photos before restoration and of time on the liner.
He was a member of the modernist movement after the war with Gio Ponti and Nino Zoncada which also participated in the decoration of the Augustus. He has participate also in the decoration of the famous liner Andréa Doria. The armchairs of the 1950s realized by known designers take more and more value. A good investment !

The liner Augustus, sister ship of Guilio Cesare, was launched in 1952 for the company Italia Line. Tonnage 27 090 barrels, length 207 m, 26,6 m of wide, draft 8.5 m, cruising speed 21 knots, speed maximumu 23,35 knots.
Passengers: 178 in first class, 288 in classy second, 714 in tourist class.
From 1964 325 in first class and 858 in tourist class. Crew 493.
She navigated the line Genoa - Buenos Aires from 1952 till 1957 then until 1961 from Genoa to New York. From 1961 till 1976 return on the line Genoa Buenos Aeres.

She finished as floating hotel under the name of Philippines before being dismantled in Alang in 2012 where we bought these armchair
